About Cody

Cody Alexander was born and raised in Klamath Falls. He grew up watching his dad fix everything around their house on Washburn Way — leaky gutters, a sagging back fence, the porch boards that always seemed to need replacing after a hard winter. That early hands-on education turned into a career, and in 2011 Cody started Klamath County Handyman with a single truck and a tool belt that barely had room for everything he needed.

Today the operation has grown considerably, but Cody still shows up personally on every estimate and most bigger jobs. He believes the best way to know whether work is done right is to be there. "You can tell a lot about a house just by walking around it," he says. "And you can tell a lot about a homeowner by how they've been taking care of it. That's usually where the conversation starts."

What Cody Specializes In

Cody's deepest expertise is in roofing, exterior repairs, and the structural work that keeps Klamath County homes standing through the region's tough freeze-thaw winters. He's inspected hundreds of roofs after heavy snowfall and knows exactly what to look for — stressed rafters, damaged flashing around chimneys and vents, ice dam damage along the eaves. If something looks off, he'll tell you straight rather than overstate the problem.

He's also the person homeowners call when a big wind event comes through. Wind damage to fences, siding, and gutters is something he handles multiple times a year, and he's developed a fast assessment process that helps clients decide whether to repair or replace — a decision that has real cost implications in a town where lumber prices follow Portland trends but wages don't.

Writing About Home Maintenance

Cody started contributing to the Klamath County Handyman blog because he kept having the same conversations over and over — homeowners asking what a repair should cost, or whether they were being quoted fairly, or how long a roof repair was supposed to last. "If I write it down once, people can read it before they call me," he explains. "They come in better prepared, and I spend less time on the phone."

His articles focus on pricing transparency, seasonal preparedness, and helping homeowners understand what they're actually paying for — not just the materials, but the labor, the experience, and what it costs to do the job right the first time in a climate like Klamath's.

Outside of Work

When he's not on a job site, Cody coaches youth baseball through the Klamath Falls Parks and Recreation league. He has three kids and a house that, he admits, always has at least one project waiting. His wife Karen describes him as "the person who notices every small thing wrong with every house we ever visit." He takes it as a compliment.
